Gallegos

Hi! I’m Gabriela Gallegos, and I teach 12th-grade Government, AP Government, Psychology, and Economics at Smidt Tech High School.

I’ve been teaching for over a decade, and I’m passionate about helping students think critically, ask big questions, and connect what they learn in class to the real world. Over the years, I’ve taken on many roles: 12th-grade level lead, Student Experience Team member, and even cheerleading coach, all with the goal of supporting students and making learning engaging.

One of my favorite projects is working with students on an Urban Land Institute collaboration, where they redesign a fictional neighborhood and tackle real-world economic challenges. Seeing them problem-solve and think like city planners, developers, and community leaders is always inspiring.

Outside of school, I stay busy balancing work, family, and hobbies like golf and reading. I believe education is a powerful tool for change, and I love being part of a school community that encourages students to find their voice and take on the world. If I’m not at Smidt Tech, you can usually find me crusing the streets of LA, on the hunt for the perfect al-pastor taco (con todo!)

Looking forward to another great year!
