Wall
Ms. Wall is a passionate and dedicated educator with 10 years of experience teaching English Learners and Newcomers. For nearly 6 years, she has worked in the Watts community, where she is committed to supporting students and families.
At Simon Tech, Ms. Wall teaches English Language Development (ELD), focusing on strengthening her students’ listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in English. Her work is centered on helping English Learners develop academic and social language, preparing them for success in school and beyond.
Ms. Wall believes in the transformative power of education and advocates for the youth of Watts, both inside and outside the classroom. While ELD is her primary focus, she also partners with local organizations to create opportunities for engagement and community involvement, raising awareness about issues like health, play inequity, and access to resources. Overall, Ms. Wall strives to connect students’ education to the real world, empowering them with the knowledge and skills needed to thrive.
In 2024, Ms. Wall advocated for the development of the Hoopbus University pilot program with the Hoopbus & Mr. Rodriguez’s PE classes, promoting holistic wellness and leadership skills. She has also increased awareness of the Los Angeles County Parks & Rec. and Lifeguard Ready Training program as a grassroots community liaison, providing youth with access to swimming classes, valuable certifications, and workforce development opportunities in public safety and recreation.
Outside of the classroom, Ms. Wall integrates her passions—mindfulness, sports, cars, street art, urban farming, space, and music—into her work, inspiring creativity and critical thinking in the students she serves. She is passionate about helping students, families, and community members in Watts recognize their own strengths and passions, and use them to grow, learn, and build a successful future #WATTSUP
English Language Development (ELD)
Class Description: Period 1 , 3, 4 & 5
In English Language Development (ELD), students focus on developing skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in English, with the goal of becoming proficient in both academic and social language. Through the Springboard ELD textbook curriculum, students explore units that encourage academic growth, real-world connections, and language development. The ultimate goal is to help students become proficient in English to succeed academically and pass the ELPAC (English Language Proficiency Assessment).
Work and Learn Internship
Class Description: Period 6
The Work and Learn internship program helps students develop college and job-ready skills, including professional writing(emails, resumes, cover letters), interview etiquette, and internship opportunities. Ms. Wall collaborates with WLCAC Youth Work Source, Reed More Little Library & other local community stakeholders to provide career exploration and hands-on work experience, connecting students to local workforce development programs and community schools initiatives. For the Spring 2025 semester session, the class will be participating in the New Sound Initiative podcasting curriculum on Fridays to build skills in digital media and communication with Kenyon Ates.
